Preoccupations was the first album by Noring/McGee, originally released on cassette on the HalTapes label (HT 067) and later on the F.D.R. Tapes label (F.D.R. #83). 4-track improvisation-based keyboard works, recorded June 18th and 19th 1996 by Brian Noring and Hal McGee, during McGee's first visit to F.D.R. Headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa! Mixed June 20th and 21st by Noring.
Brian Noring wrote this about the tape:
The very first Noring / McGee recording was originally released in June 1996 on Hal McGee's HalTapes label, however while Hal was taking a break from tape trading he designed covers for them all to be released on my label F.D.R. Tapes in January 1999. This is certainly one of my favorites with Hal and I doing multi track keyboard works, and things clicked right off. Recorded at my house on June 18th and 19th, and I believe mixed by me. This is just one of many recordings to come.
