Below are raw video montages recorded at the Poetry For Monkeys poetry reading event. Filmed by Jack Sexson with a handheld VHS camcorder. Digitized by Debbie Jaffe in 2014. This is an inside look at the early 1980s experimental music, poetry, and art scene in Indianapolis.
Part 1 of 4
In this first part we see the event participants before the reading: hanging out, conversing, listening to music, working on their poems, partying, etc. At 2:30 we see Sally Boniece looking at a painting by Jaffe & McGee. At 8:20 we see Rick Karcasheff reading from a text by another author; at 9:15 he reads his poem "The Death Of Dada"; and at 10:25 he reads a third piece, "For Those Who Cannot Keep Time".
