MOMA057 - Nicole Shugborough
Recorded in Bergen, Norway
with a Sony M-475 microcassette recorder
Gear and sound sources:
Ableton Live, MFOS Soundlab Mini Synth, Arturia MiniBrute, Casio SK-5, MXR Blue Box, MXR Carbon Copy, Line 6 DL-4 feeding into itself, YouTube videos, a lunchbox, and recordings from FM and shortwave radio.
The album was recorded with the internal mic of the recorder. Some parts were improvised live to tape, others were playback of earlier recordings.
What we have here is a minimal electronics soundtrack to a future world populated by analog robot clones of our former digital selves - having been re-born after sheer death of the soul itself swallowed up in Google's "surveillance is protection" machine. You will "Like" this tape without hearing it because the mouse leader beckoned you. At least we're re-born as something with joy, riding on shortwave beams and singing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" even though beer has no taste for us.
