raw video
Raw video footage of a performance by Bright Too Late at a house show in 1983, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Originally recorded with a handheld VHS camcorder by Jack Sexson.
Please be patient with the low fidelity sound and picture quality. This is the best version of this video that is currently available.
I consider myself and the world fortunate to have this!

In the beginning part of this first segment Bright Too Late loads in their gear and sets up to play. In the first song of their performance, Bright Too Late plays the song "Evening Air" from their debut self-released cassette, Exercises In Style. Also in this segment we see the second song of their performance.
The third song in Bright Too Late's set at the house show was called "Catatonically". The fourth song is "Exoskeleton" from the Exercises In Style cassette, on which Eklund and Anfinson duet on vocals. The fifth number is an instrumental (I don't know the title). The sixth song is titled "The Other Side" with Mattingly on lead vocals, and Eklund and Anfinson on accompanying vocals.
In the third part of the house show Bright Too Late plays "Siren" from their Exercises In Style cassette, featuring Jane Anfinson on vocals. Mattingly plays the Yamaha keyboard that Eklund had played previously, and Eklund plays the Moog Prodigy synthesizer. For the last song, an instrumental, Eklund goes back to polyphonic keyboard, Anfinson to violin, and Mattingly plays Moog Prodigy (I think). In the last few minutes we see a short interview with an eight and an half year old show attendee. And then at the very end of the tape, a very short clip of Sonic Youth playing the song "Tom Violence", which apparently was recorded (presumably by Jack Sexson) at a show (The Hoosier Ballroom, July 19, 1986) in Indianapolis.
